The British Embassy in Spain is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a temporary Corporate Services Coordination Officer A2 (L), based in Madrid.
The main purpose of the Job is to support the Corporate Services management team in providing management support services to the Embassy and the wider Spain Network of Consulates with a focus on office management, accounts and procurement.
Main Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Complete ad hoc office management tasks with a high level of attention to detail, including minute taking, contingency planning, business continuity planning, expense claims checking, management of the Embassy catering contract, and miscellaneous correspondence;
  • Provide support to the Accounts officer and Procurement officer;
  • Maintain the Spain Network intranet site;
  • Provide support to budget management.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate a readiness to use their initiative and to manage a diverse workload with shifting priorities.
  • Financial and office management skills;
  • A degree level qualification and previous experience in these areas are desirable;
  • A good command of Microsoft Excel;
  • Commercial procurement experience (desirable);
  • Fluent written and spoken English;
  • Good written and spoken Spanish;
  • Ability in the following key Foreign and Commonwealth Office competences: collaborating and partnering; delivering at pace; managing a quality service; leading and communicating; building capability for all; and achieving commercial outcomes.

Terms and Conditions:
This is a full-time temporary contract for the duration of a maternity cover. The working hours are 37.5 hours per week.
The monthly salary for this position is 2,081.08 € gross, at a locally engaged A2 level.
The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance with a probation period of 1 month.
The successful candidate will be enrolled in the Spanish Social Security Scheme and will therefore not be entitled to any gratuity from the Embassy/Consulate based on gross annual salary.
Regarding taxation, the Embassy is a Diplomatic Mission with tax exempt status and does not collect taxes for other States. Employees are fully responsible for payment of Spanish income tax at the legally required rate.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Spain are subject to terms and conditions of service according to local Spanish employment law. This includes a commitment to the learning and development of our staff.
